My column 08-01-2025

This is my first column of the year 2025. A very happy and prosperes new year to all my readers!

I have been away for too long towards the end of last year due to personal reasons too numerous to list here. Hope this year would be different.
Lots off things happened last year. I lost a very close person to cancer. We are still trying to come to term with that. She was by far my favourite person. Even after her death, she donated her body to Nair hospital for research purposes.
Cancer is unforgiving. The suffering is beyond imagination. Early detection is the key. I urge each and everyone for regular medical checkups. Many are scared about the results of such checkups, but believe me, the results of not undegoing checkups are far more disastrous. I have already seen too many examples of this.
Let us start with sports. India predictably lost cricket series with Austrailia. Without going into specifics, let us stop this celebrity worship, not only in criket, but in cinema world also. In cricket, judge a player on merit, performance and not on his status.
We have not one, but two chess world champions. A great achievement indeed! Our hockey teams are on the up and up, which is a great news. Though olympic was not a complete disaster, it was not great either. It is time we stop watching thirteen players having a ball and devote time to other sport if we want to become a sporting nation like Austrailia.

Finally the Maharashtra voters gave the boot to Uddhav Thakre, Sharad Pawar and the Patoles. I read an article in one of the news papers saying it is now or never for the state of Maharashtra. So true! Hope Mr Fadanvis lives up to his reputation and promise.

Now that the new year celebrations are done and dusted, let us get back to work. Me, to regain my complete physical fitness. Talking of which, I started undergoing aqua therapy for my painful legs and it has already started bearing fruits. It is very effective for walking difficulties, back pain and spinal cord problem. If anyone is interested please contact me personally.

I promise we will keep meeting more often in the digiatal world if not in the real world. One note of caution though. Digital world is becoming as dangerous as the real world. Beware of electronic frauds and be alert and cautious all the time.
Again wishing a very happy new year to all my readers!
