A summer day
A summer day
Shashank Purandare
As I sit in front of my French windows just after a satisfying lunch provided by my better half, I see a sea of green in front of me. It is a typical pre monsoon day. The sky is covered with scattered clouds. The Sun pokes through it once in a while. A gentle breeze is ruffling the tree tops. The green canopy is punctuated by the orange of gulmohar, the blue of bougainvillea, and slightly metallic tinge of the bahawa.
Birds of various kinds are flitting around endlessly, singing their merry songs. Only Salim Alis of this world can understand the lyrics.
It is pretty warm out there. Even though I cannot see it from where I sit, I am sure many people are going on about their own errands, braving the heat on the road, just as the daily workers toil away, pausing just to have their midday meals.
Thankfully, children have their holidays, though some who have not gone on vacation with their parents are brave enough to play in the heat.
Well, the mango season is coming to an end. Enjoy it till the stock lasts!!!!
And now we wait for the monsoon to arrive, to adorn the trees with an even deeper green shade. Hopefully, the El Niño or whatever that is, does not interfere.
